Picking one of the best pubg squad names shouldn’t take longer than your first loot run. I’ve helped friend groups, Discord clans, and competitive teams pick names for years, and the pattern is always the same: the squads that pick fast and pick smart end up sticking with their name for seasons. This guide gives you real, usable pubg squad names sorted by style, plus the naming rules most players learn the hard way.
What Are PUBG Squad Names?
A PUBG squad name is the identity tag your four-player team uses in-game, on Discord, and on leaderboards — it’s what shows up in the kill feed, the lobby list, and your match history. A good one is short, easy to say out loud, and tells opponents something about how your team plays before the plane even doors out.
Squad names are different from your personal username. Your username is you. Your squad name is your whole team’s brand — so it needs to work for every player wearing it, not just one.
How to Pick a Great PUBG Squad Name
The fastest way to pick a strong PUBG squad name is to match it to your team’s personality, keep it under 16 characters, and test it out loud before you lock it in. Here’s the framework I use every time a squad asks me for help.
- Check the character limit. PUBG Mobile and BGMI cap names at 16 characters, including spaces. PC lobbies and custom Discord tags usually give you more room, but tight names travel better across platforms.
- Say it out loud. If your teammates stumble over it in voice chat during a hot drop, it’s too long or too clunky. 🎧
- Avoid trademarked terms. Skip real esports org names, brand logos, or copyrighted game titles in your tag — some platforms flag or rename accounts that use them.
- Search it first. A quick search or in-app check tells you if a rival squad already owns your exact name. Original names build your own reputation instead of borrowing someone else’s.
- Pick for the long game. A common mistake I see is squads naming themselves after a single meme that dies in a month. Choose something your team still likes after 50 matches.
- Match your mode. Ranked squads often lean sharp and intimidating, while casual groups do better with something fun and self-aware.
